I realized that I don't have anything to update when I have school compared to when I was on holiday... Both seems like boring repetitive lives... yet I don't know... more creative since I was bored during the holidays so there was some ideas to write?
Now I just don't know what to update my blog about. No random thoughts... No random ideas for a blog post.
Nyehhh....
Randomness: I wanna go shopping. FOR DRESSES. and a small handbag... and a pair of ballet flats.

#44 HI!
First night I'm not rushing any assignments/tutorials or attempting to do any assignments/tutorials. Sooo, taking a break from dramas. been watching dramas one episode after another since I got back from uni/lunch. And since no drama, I'm bored. So let's give you an update shall we?
So where to start? Oh yeah, my mid terms gonna start in about a week. I'm dead. For bio at least.
And I got injured last saturday. Twice. Lost quite a bit of blood. One, from peeling an apple and accidentally peeling the tip of my left middle finger. That was painful, almost cried.
Second, went to the beach, climbed some rocks, slipped, stepped into the water panicking cause I didn't know how deep it was gonna be, right foot scraped the side of the rocks. After I stepped out of the water, felt pain on my foot so I looked down. BLOOD. covering my 3 last toes. Panicked. Friends ran to get clean water and tissue from the car while I stood on the rock bleeding and waiting. and trying to avoid the water from touching my bleeding foot. That was a bad day. Recovering from it now. Can say finger is fully healed though can still see the 'dent' in my finger where my flesh got cut off. Toes, looking erm, scabby with the scabs? It doesn't look that bad. Oh, and I just realized like two days ago, the part below my toes was swollen. double ouch. how hard did i hit the rock for it to get swollen.
What else to update? Nothing interesting happened to me, except for the getting injured part. so I shall leave it at that. Ta-ta!

#37 Reminiscence
The younger years
The innocent times
Those carefree days
Those happy moments
Where one insignificant thing
Seems to brighten up
The world that was once known
Forever a memory
Hidden deep within the heart
Just to be reminisce

#35 World
Just another one of my random rants. Deal with it.
What's happening to this world?
Sibu (seems off the map here), Pakistan, China. All flooding.
Effects of global warming?
I read a book again few days ago. VENUS by BEN BOVA. A sci-fi book. Which got me to thinking how Venus as in the 2nd planet nearest to the sun, Earth's sister planet, got to turn out the way it is. A world where the air is filled with toxic carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid, ground temperatures of up to approx. 460 degree Celcius. Can you say hot or HOT? More like freaking burning HOT. Mercury, the nearest planet to the Sun is hot [max temp, approx 420 degree Celcius] but it has cold areas too [min temp, approx -170 degree Celcius]. And this is cause of the atmospheric gases on Venus.
Will Earth turn out that way too with the greenhouse effect/global warming? However, there's not a single drop of water on Venus.
SCIENCE TIME! -- One of the effects of global warming is the melting of icebergs at the poles of the Earth which leads to higher levels of water in the oceans/seas/rivers which in turn leads to more frequent floods in low lying coastal areas. [Sibu is not even a coastal area!] Hmm... but Venus has the runaway greenhouse effect, where all the waters on Venus [if there ever was] was boiled away. Let's see, for Earth to turn into Venus, that'll definitely take a super duper long time. The icebergs gotta melt first, before they can all be boiled away. By the time all the icebergs at the poles melt, Earth would be drowned by the oceans, before it turns into disaster Venus.
RELIGION TIME! -- Bear with me here. In the Bible, God punished the wicked by flooding the Earth, covering Earth in water. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and took months for the water to recede to wherever/evaporate. God then send a rainbow as a promise to never cover the Earth in water again. So... the 'end of the world' would be FIRE not water. Which is scarier? Water or Fire? The wicked shall die by fire and the righteous should live.
Conclusion?
I think we'll be dead before the 'end of the world' arrives. Hopefully. Get rid of the thought of the world ending in 2012, the Mayans got lazy to continue their calendar/the person who was doing the calendar died before he could finish it, heck they didn't even last till modern times. So yeah, I'll just leave it at that. :)Time to sleep. Ta-ta
P/S Pity the future generations :(

#34 Sibu, the town of floods / Atlantis-waiting-to-happen
It's August. Not supposed to be monsoon/rainy season in Sarawak. Been raining on and off for the past week. Result of the rains in Sarawak, Sibu is flooded, for the first time in the month of August.
Every Sibuan on Facebook has been sharing a video of the flood in Sibu... Nice video I would say, I especially like the ending. Upcoming election, I doubt BN would win. See what BN gets when they don't do their job properly, and they want people to vote for them. Sheesh~
Honestly, to me, being stuck at home (since there's no place interesting in Sibu to go to) I'm not really aware of how bad the flood is around town, since my place doesn't flood. Which reminds me, I haven't check the level of water in the drains outside my house. Well, the waters in Sibu flowed down (or is it up?) from Kapit. Whichever, I don't know where Kapit is exactly on the map =/
Sibu is a swampy area, so yeah, no wonder it floods a lot. BUT. It's also because of the poor drainage system, the fact that the Rejang River is getting shallower, and the lousy roads that sink-oh-so-fast due to poor workmanship.
The waters are disgusting, creepy crawlies, reported incidents of baby croc found in the drains. one word. GROSS. I used to like wading in the flood waters. But now the thought of it is just disgusting. Yuck.
Conclusion. Sibu shall sink into the sea, or drown in the sea. Whichever. It'll be Atlantis-waiting-to-happen :)
The next underwater town!

#33 Where are you from?
This post is inspired by the video below :)
Morgan Then: Where are you from? (Malaysian stereotypes)
Watch it first before you continue!
East Malaysians, ever experienced this before? Or at least heard of this happening to your friends & family? Too have this experience. Well, not exactly having those ignorant sort of questions thrown at me but I've heard about it. Thank goodness my West Malaysian friends aren't THAT ignorant.
Can ya seriously believe that? We're the same country and they don't know a single thing about East Malaysia? They think we still stay in jungles, up in trees, wear clothes made out of leaves, have the barter system? Hello, who still live that primitive? I'm not denying that there's plenty of greens over here. Lemme just tell you this, if Sarawak and Sabah didn't join Malaysia. We would have been pretty awesome on our own. We have lots of trees to be cut down (which I won't really encourage), we have oil too (in Miri, at least we used to? Has it all dried up?) We could have been a well off country on our own.
Will be going to Penang next month, I wonder if my West Malaysians course mates will be that ignorant too. However, if there's a chance messing with one of their heads that sound totally fun. I would like to tell them about the headhunters :)
Oh and it's August which means Malaysia day! Oh wait, no, Malaysia day should be Sept 16th. To be more precise, 31st August is National Day (Hari Merdeka) Whee! We got freed from colonists on that day! Oh wait, again, NO, that's just West Malaysia. Don't they care about us at all. Sheesh. Sarawak and Sabah should have 16th of Sept off. It's our state freedom day.
I came up with answers to those questions of my own. Just to spice it up a lil', switch it around, and just playing around, since you know, I'm bored, not being in uni at the moment.
How did you get here?
I swam here, fought off sharks and piranhas, they made good food. It ain't that far. and since I'm from Sibu (located central of Sarawak), I had to walk through jungles too, to get to the sea, it's like the Iron man challenge. Triathlon if you would prefer, but we don't have bikes :)
Do you guys still live on trees?
Yeah, we do. You know we have those cool transformer tree houses you see in Phineas & Ferb. We have elevators up and down the trees, moving walkways connecting our tree house to the tree house next door. It's totally cool, cause we can have THF (Tree House Fights) like in P&F :)
[Yes, I watch Phineas & Ferb, it's the only Disney show I watch now. Rest sucks :( ]
[Yes, I watch Phineas & Ferb, it's the only Disney show I watch now. Rest sucks :( ]
So what about your shirt?
Oh this shirt? You know... There are foreigners visiting us in our jungles. The headhunters they hunt these people, to... you know collect their heads. We keep their clothes cause they look so much cooler than the leaves we wore :)
'Nuff said.
p/s I might not be happy with some things but it's still a country where I grew up in. In someways of its own, Malaysia's cool. Minus the Malaysian stereotyping, political problems (But which country doesn't have political problems?) Conclusion: I still love you Malaysia
p/p/s The red&green colored words are edited (not original post)/ added in later as in now [ 18/08/2010 10:40PM]

#30 Penang
ALERT! This is a rambling post.
I officially start uni on Sept 20th. Currently looking for accommodation. All the condos nearest to PMC is around 1 km away. Which is kinda far for walking. There's not really any public transport system to get from here to there. Checking out Sri York Condo now. Not bad, it's the condo with the most facilities. I'm not really worried about accommodation, I'm more worried bout how I'm gonna get to uni! Carpooling is the choice. But who do I know that has a car and goes to PMC? NO ONE. = = and I so don't want my parents to get me a car there. The thought of it is nice. But the guilt of them having to spend soooooo much money on me would kill me.
I'm currently email-ing back and forth with this girl who's also looking for a place to stay. She's from Ipoh so she had the chance to go down there with her mom and take a look at an apartment at Sri York suggested by a lady at PMC, she's gonna get the place. For me I guess I'm fine, I don't really mind sharing the master bedroom with her. Problem's with my dad. He's such a worrier. I know he's looking out for me, being the most protective dad ever in the world but it's fine. As long as the girl is good. =/
I wonder if the master bedroom already has 2 beds in it, or we gonna have to get a separate bed in ourselves or something. We gonna need 2 desks too... for studying, unless we do it in the dining/living room. I'm gonna need headphones. Good headphones that doesn't hurt my ear putting 'em on for so long cause I listen to music ALL THE TIME. As long as I'm on the computer, I gotta have my music.
I hope the year in Penang goes by quick. I'm really looking forward to going to Dublin, Ireland. Gotta have to ask them to help me get into UCD since that's the uni my cousins' children are looking to enter. I think I'm gonna be in the same year as the eldest son of my oldest cousin staying in Ireland... OK, kinda akward? Oh well. One step at a time, one step at a time.
Enough rambling for now. Ta-ta~ Au revoir. Till next time

♥ The culture
♥ The food *yummy*
♥ The people
♥ Staying in hotels. Hah.
♥ Travelling means no studies, no work
♥ The fun of it :)
Dislikes
x The rule of not being able to take water on board for international flights. (Bad experience: Hello? Would it kill for me to finish my water after passing the X-ray scan for the baggage? Why do I have to step back out??? Seriously. GEEZ.)
x Lugging around heavy luggage. Travel light is a total must
x Takes a lot of money to travel around. Transport... food... visiting museums? theme parks? =S
x Long queue at immigration
Conclusion
I love travelling. I should marry a millionaire or a billionaire or just someone rich enough so that I don't have to work and can go travelling, all expenses paid. XD

#21 Die Mosquitoes Die!
Well, I'll be wearing long sleeves for quite a while if I'm going out. Because of my ugly mosquito bites and scars from mosquito bites on my right arm as you can see. I can't believe I got 4 mosquito bites on my right arm alone in a day! It just had to be the arm with scars. I'm a scratch-er. I scratch, over-scratch. That's why I get scars from mosquito bites. My blood must be too sweet, perfect for mosquitoes to suck on. I even have a mosquito bite on my neck, thus, I call them vampire mosquitoes now.
I think I'm getting allergic to mosquito bites. They get all red, sometimes swollen. And it'll still itch for days after I get bitten. Like the day I got bitten, it'll itch, then it doesn't anymore, next day it starts to itch again... Last time, when I got bitten, it'll itch, won't itch anymore, end of story. But not the ones I'm having this past 2 years. They're mutating I tell you, mutating! which explains why I'm suddenly allergic to 'em. >=(
I think I've found something good enough to stop my itches though. Breath spray. Suggested by T.S. It actually works. Amway's breath spray. Should consider getting my hands on one.
I guess I should be glad of all the thousands of mosquito bites I've had in my life, none of them led to dengue or malaria or any serious diseases those mosquitoes carry. But still....
I WANT THE WORLD TO BE RID OF MOSQUITOES!
and lizards... and ants...

#16 Boredom leads to facebook quizzes
Soo... because I was bored and I came across someone who did the quiz on my news feed....
I did this quiz to analyze my 'future love partner'. Well, as usual these quizzes are bogus. But it's something fun to do when you're bored. And sometimes you get a good laugh out of the quiz results. So here's my results.
Dear Iris Yew Yee Chua, based on test result, Here is the analysis:
You are a person with full of ambitions and creativity. You are very concerned about changes happening around you. You are also a very temperamental person.
Your Future Love Partner Analysis Result: ...
From the results... What does that gotta do with my future love partner? It says nothing about my future love partner = =

- If you are a gay or lesbo, sorry it's not the real you! [Don't worry, I'm being the real me which is NOT les.]
- Did you notice that you are a "hot target" among the opposite sex? [Whaaat? No I didn't notice that and I don't think so]
- You can easily attract the opposite sex. [Again, Whaaat? No-oh-oh-no]
- Basically you are a very popular person, --- [Erm... yeah, at where? Mars?]
- --- so many people like to chat with you. [Nuh-uh. I can be pretty quiet at times]
From the results... What does that gotta do with my future love partner? It says nothing about my future love partner = =

#9 The Game of Politics
The game of politics. See who badmouths the other team better.
From my point of view.
Wanna know how uninterested I am in politics? I'll tell you how uninterested in politics I am. Some of you may go "Why? Politics is sooo interesting!" or something like that. I can actually imagine TK telling me that. lol. It's been a long time since I've spoken to him. Hmm.Anyways, back to showing you how uninterested I am in politics. So everyone as in all Sibuans know about the by election since the passing of Robert Lau Hoi Chew. The past week or so, in Sibu has been very 热闹. I'm sorry, I don't think there's an exact English word for that. Exciting? Doesn't fit here I think. Because of the by election, lots of people were out every night for free dinners, listening to campaign talks and whatnot. Most people go and listen to the talk by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) [Correct me if I'm wrong = =] compared to Barisan Nasional (BN). Rejang Park which is like just behind my house is one of the places they give talk every night. For the past 2/3 nights, I can actually hear the talks from my place. I went to Rejang Park last Thursday night with my parents to look around and join in the excitement? I had my earphones in my ears the whole time. Uh-huh.... My 2nd sis seems really excited about the by election. She's been following almost every movement of it since last night through the internet and when she tells me about it, I'm like "yeah" "...." "ok". Emotionless. That's me facing politics. Emotionless. Moving on to today...
Today is polling day. Results were supposedly out by 9 earlier this evening. However it's still not out. Every Sibuan on facebook is posting that DAP won which I guess is quite true, since they were leading quite a bit. They're not announcing it yet because BN lost, and they're trying to find ways by crook to see if they can make BN win. or something. whatever. Everyone is like really excited about the results. Me? I feel NOTHING. yeah, that's right. Nothing whatsoever. I'll get excited once somebody does something about the road conditions in Sibu a.s.a.p. Hopefully, that'll be DAP once it's confirmed that they've won.
Yeah.... that's me. UPDATE: DAP won. whoopdeedoo! *blank face*
